Vote for an Affordable B.C.

Affordability is an issue that affects BCGEU members all over BC. Housing costs, childcare costs and other fees continue to increase with amazing speed.

The Tyee has produced a website full of solutions journalism on the housing crisis -- read about some potential solutions on "The Housing Fix". If you are interested specifically in Metro Vancouver, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives wrote a comprehensive report.

If you are a renter, the Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre has a great website full of information about your rights and how to protect them. They also produce the Tenant Survival Guide.

Are you struggling to find and afford childcare? The BCGEU has our own campaign called "Can't Afford Childcare" and our friends at the Coalition of Child Care Advocates have a petition supporting their $10/day plan.

Low wages have you down? Learn about two great campaigns: the Fight for $15 campaign to raise the minimum wage and the Living Wage for Families campaign to lift more BC families out of poverty.
